STATE AND PRIVATE RESOURCES

NATIONAL INTERAGENCY FIRE CENTER (NIFC) This is the Pentagon of U.S. wildland fire management. Site contains daily fire situation reports, extensive information resources and links to other federal fire-related sites.

CANADIAN INTERAGENCY FOREST FIRE CENTER (CIFFC) This Canadian site contains daily Canadian fire situation reports, other information resources and links to other Canadian fire-related sites.

US FOREST SERVICE FIRE & AVIATION MANAGEMENT This U.S. Forest Service website is one of the most extensive wildland fire informtion resources on the internet. An excellent collection of both documents and links.

FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) FEMA has become a major player in wildland fire and this website reflects that involvement. Primary focus is on hazard mitigation and providing fire departments with grants and other support.

NATIONAL WILDFIRE COORDINATING GROUP (NWCG) Good source for forms and other documents related to managing wildland fires.

FIREWISE The best place to start researching how to protect your home from wildfires. Some similar regional websites include:

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF STATE FORESTERS The best set of links to individual state forestry organizations, which are usually responsible for wildland fire management in their states.

THE CANADIAN WILDFIRE NETWORK An excellent private resource on Canadian wildfire management who's future is currently somewhat in doubt.

WESTERN STATES FIRE INFORMATION RESOURCE Another excellent private resource, this one is focused on the Western U.S. (obviously).
