If you want to tell me about a story or idea that might be worth writing about,
then there are a few conditions you need to understand.

I can guarantee to keep your name confidential if that's what you want. I can also guarantee that I'll be discreet in using whatever you tell me (that's how I work).

But if you tell me something, you are, in effect, giving me a royalty-free, unrestricted, non-exclusive license to use that information if I need to.

In other words, whatever you tell me will, as always, be handled with discretion, but don't expect to get paid for it.
